Our NonProfit

The Irena Drobinski Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing scholarships to low income, first generation immigrant families. Our mission is to support these families in sending their children to private high schools, giving them access to quality education and better opportunities for the future.
We are committed to making a difference in the lives of these families by breaking down financial barriers and empowering students to achieve academic success. Through our scholarship program, we aim to create a more inclusive and equitable educational landscape.

At the Irena Drobinski Foundation, we believe that every child deserves a chance to pursue their educational goals, regardless of their financial situation. Join us in our mission to make a positive impact in the lives of these students and their families.

Our
Story

Get to Know Us

Chester and Irena Drobinski immigrated to the United States in the 1970s settling in the northern suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.  They raised two children, Roderick and Erick, and prioritized community service and education.  They worked in local factories their whole lives and lived in a blue-collar community.

Irena Drobinski was a devoted Catholic and regularly attended church.  Through church, she met families who moved from Poland and she helped families establish themselves in America by finding jobs, a place to live, enroll their children in school, and many other types of assistance.

She was passionate about education and saw it as path for success for children.  She made incredible sacrifices to provide her children the best education.  She sent Roderick and Erick to Lake Shore Catholic Academy and Carmel Catholic High School in Illinois.  Roderick went on to graduate from the University of Notre Dame and Georgetown University Law Center.  Erick went on to graduate from Marquette University and Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Sadly, Irena was diagnosed with breast cancer in the 1992 and passed away in 2005.  This nonprofit is intended to keep her spirit alive by providing scholarships to first generation families prioritizing their children's education.
